This exceptionally elegant antique Oushak carpet, of considerably ample size, dates back to around the end of the 19th Century and beautifully illustrates the impeccable craftsmanship and artistry of early Turkish weavers. Sumptuously soft woolen threads of pink, peach and light coral form the basis of the background’s sophisticated palette. A dazzling array of floral motifs spread themselves across the central pastel field in an all-over, yet structured, design pattern. A multiplicity of palmettes in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors are interconnected by an assortment of both natural and geometric vine branches. The understated border of geometric vines and small flowered garlands, in hues of ivory, blue and gold, are interwoven throughout to beautifully frame the entire carpet’s body in a delightfully crafted manner. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous!
