This spectacular antique Persian Bakshaish/serapi displays a central medallion and geometric design throughout. The medallion contains a variety of geometric motifs and is paired with two large palmettes at either of its ends. The brick red central field is filled with branching flowers and is held in place by saw-toothed cornices filled with additional geometric floral motifs in light brown and camel colors. The inner and outer guards bear a repeating pattern of clover and leaf designs while the main border holds alternating patters of serrated leaves and palmette blossoms in light blue, salmon, ivory and light brown.
